The Chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, has commented on the latest developments related to the protest that has been taking place in the capital for 11 days, as well as on the positions held by various figures from the socialist camp on this issue, including the reaction of former minister Elisa Spiropali.
Asked by journalists about Spiropali's statement, which in its response made a few days ago called for a "new agreement for Albania" and raised strong criticism of the way the government functions, Balla decided to be reserved, saying that he does not feel every post or reaction of the deputies, while adding that any concerns can be discussed initially within the party structures.
"I do not follow the posts of all the deputies, members of the Socialist Party. Whoever has a concern, I have just started a group meeting, it was not at all. When he comes, let him say it there, I will listen carefully and after I listen I will come here and clarify it with you. I have very good communication with all the deputies, including my colleague Spiropali ," said Balla.
Meanwhile, regarding the protest, the leader of the socialist group said that so far there is no representation, which according to him makes it difficult to address concrete demands, further emphasizing that Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government have a contract with the Albanians and that they have no time to waste.
Among other things, Balla mentioned the NATO summit which will take place next year in Tirana, confirming that US President Donald Trump will be welcome in our country within the framework of this summit.
"We received 850 thousand votes, a historical record, it is a contract that was signed with the Albanians. Albania does not have the luxury of losing such an important project. Trump will be welcome next year when he comes for the NATO Summit in Tirana. I am against any call against Israel and the people of Israel, they are against any form of discrimination. The essence of the protest ... I heard that there was a group of initiators who submitted some changes... Until there is an official representation of the protest, I will also comment on the demands of the protest ," Balla said, among other things.
