Lawyer and candidate for leader of the Democratic Party of Albania, Alesia Balliu, has sent an email to two influential figures in European and international politics: David McAllister and Tina Mercep.
It is learned that in her communication, Balliu raised serious concerns about the internal situation in the Democratic Party, claiming that the political formation has been "taken hostage" by Sali Berisha and his political circle.
It is learned that Balliu has argued that a political force that aspires to return to power and represent European standards cannot be led by a person declared "non grata" by the US and Great Britain. She has sought the attention of international partners for what she considers a degradation of democratic standards within the DP.
Sources indicate that the candidate for the leadership of the DP has also denounced the use of the party, according to her, in the function of Berisha's personal battles against SPAK, while she has raised claims about a climate of control, pressure and exclusion of critical voices in the party.
In the email addressed to international officials, Balliu also mentioned allegations about individuals close to Berisha, who, according to her, are benefiting politically and economically at the expense of the democrats and the opposition spirit.
