Gunfire in Mitrovica, one injured reported

A person was injured by gunfire this afternoon in Mitrovica, the police in that region confirmed.

Police spokesman for the Mitrovica region, Avni Zahiti, said that the injured person has been sent for medical treatment, while the suspect has been arrested.

" Today at around 2:00 PM, Kosovo Police received information about a person injured in Mitrovica by gunfire. The incident occurred on 'Ilaz Kodra' street ," he said.

Zahiti said that they confiscated a weapon from the suspect.

"As a result of rapid operational and investigative actions, the Police have managed to identify and arrest a suspect, who is suspected of having injured the victim. As material evidence, a firearm was confiscated from the suspect."

He said that investigators, in coordination with the prosecutor in the case, are continuing investigative procedures regarding this case.
