The Democratic League of Kosovo emerged as the third party from the June 7 elections with 16.69% of the votes. A repeated result in three consecutive parliamentary elections has once again led to the demand of LDK branches for the resignation of the party leader, Lumir Abdixhiku.
The LDK branch in Peja, in a meeting held on Tuesday, said that after analyzing the election results, "with a majority of votes, they have requested deep political reflection and taking responsibility from the party leadership."
"In this regard, resignation has been requested as a moral and political act, assessing that responsibility for the outcome should be borne by the leadership ," the reaction states.
After the public request of the Peja membership, where the LDK has been leading at the local level for several years now, the branch in Lipjan, where this party also holds local power, also demanded accountability for the election results.
"The election result should serve as a call for reflection, shared responsibility, and the launch of the process of reforming and reorganizing the party at all levels ," the announcement said.
The second LDK branch in Pristina has also expressed its dissatisfaction with the election result, adding that Abdixhiku was given the opportunity to return the LDK to the path of victory, but that the result was lacking.
"In these circumstances, the Second Branch of the LDK in Pristina thanks the chairman Lumir Abdixhiku for his contribution and commitment so far and, at the same time, requests that, with political responsibility and dignity, he resign and pave the way for the now necessary changes in the LDK ," the announcement said.
The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, blamed the Peja and Lipjan branches for the poor results in these two municipalities and said that he expects the moral resignations of the two mayors of these centers for this.
Abdixhiku also added that there is "sabotage" within the party.
"I only feel regret that in the most important moments of the LDK and the country, our internal damage remains the goal. How did they never get enough?!" , wrote the LDK leader.
