Why was Granit Xhaka whistled at home?

In her book, "Balkan Worry," Edith Durham makes a clinical diagnosis that remains relevant today, after more than a century: we love passionately, we hate passionately, and the gray area seems alien to us.
This lack of "gray area" was recently experienced in the most painful way by Granit Xhaka. He was stunned in his "home" as he faced boos from the fans who had applauded him throughout his career.
The reason? A classic and malignant misinterpretation.
The news that got the message was: “Xhaka said that those who do not play for Switzerland, play for Kosovo.” This harsh phrase was used to inflame anger.
But the truth of Xhaka's words in the interview with the Blick newspaper is quite different.
He spoke about the great competition in the Swiss team, the quality of the players and the patience required. Most importantly, he called Kosovo a team that is playing at a high level, implying that the selection of players like Avdijaj and Hajdari was an important step, professionally.
Swiss journalists were stunned when they learned that the whistles on Fadil Vokrri were the result of a fake news. A sentence in Basel was "translated" badly in Pristina.
Football is emotion, that's true. But it's equally true that the tastiest food for portals and social networks is playing with these "emotions", simply because they generate clicks and give even the most stupid people the opportunity to think.
Edith Durham was right: we do not recognize the "gray zone". But the reality is that this zone exists and is exactly where we should stand even when we explode like "flames of straw".
Neither Granit Xhaka is a traitor, nor are the fans who whistle the enemy. They are simply victims of manipulation and misinformation.
What will happen if neither Albania nor Kosovo make it to the World Cup?
The "patriots" who booed Xhaka will be the first to be proud of him. They will applaud him loudly and be more proud than they were in the epic Serbia-Switzerland match at the World Cup in Russia!
Before we turn the stadium stands into tribunals of judgment, perhaps we should stop for a moment and ask: Who is the best Albanian footballer of all time?
The answer probably makes all parties agree: GRANIT XHAKA.
