"His father did not trust him with the leadership of Iran"/ What did American intelligence reveal about Mojtaba Khamenei? New York Post: The young ayatollah may be homosexual

US intelligence agencies suspect that Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, may be gay, the New York Post reported , citing sources in the US intelligence community and the White House.
According to the report, the information was deemed credible by US intelligence services and was presented to US President Donald Trump during a classified briefing at the White House. When this information was communicated to him, Trump was reportedly surprised and reacted with laughter.
Three different sources told the newspaper that the claim is not seen as a disinformation attempt to discredit the Iranian leader, but as information coming from one of the US government's most protected sources.
According to two of the sources, intelligence suggests that Mojtaba Khamenei may have had a relationship with a childhood teacher for years. Another source said the relationship may have been with a person who previously worked for the Khamenei family.
The report also notes that suspicions about Mojtaba Khamenei's sexual orientation have long circulated in Iran, especially after the 2024 helicopter crash that killed the country's then-president, Ebrahim Raisi, who was considered the favored successor to then-supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
A 2008 US diplomatic cable, published by WikiLeaks, also mentions that Mojtaba Khamenei had received medical treatment in the United Kingdom for impotence problems. According to the document, he married relatively late and had made several visits to London for treatment before his wife became pregnant.
According to the New York Post report, US intelligence does not have photographic evidence for these claims, but sources emphasize that the information is considered strong and supported by very reliable sources.
Ironically, in Iran, homosexual relations are illegal and in some cases punishable by death. In the past, people accused of homosexuality have been sentenced and even publicly hanged as a warning to others.
Even the former president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, declared in 2007 that "there are no homosexuals in Iran."
Mojtaba Khamenei was elected supreme leader on March 8, following the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, who had led Iran since 1989. He is considered a very powerful figure within the Iranian political system and has often been described as the "power behind the religious veil," as he controlled access to his father and influenced key decisions of the regime for years.
However, the private life of Iran's new leader remains one of the most controversial topics in international political and intelligence circles.
