The Transparency Board changes fuel prices, diesel and gasoline fall

The Transparency Board has changed the price of oil and gasoline again.
The retail price of diesel was set at 188 lek/liter from 190, while the wholesale price was set at 176 lek/liter.
On the other hand, the retail price of gasoline was set at 171 lek/liter from 173, while the wholesale price was set at 159 lek/liter.
The Transparency Board on June 10, 2026, at its next meeting decided:
The retail price of the SSH EN 590 standard diesel by-product shall not exceed 188 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall not exceed 176 lek/liter.
The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product shall not exceed 171 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall not exceed 159 lek/liter.
The prices set by the Board will enter into force today, June 10, at 2:00 p.m. and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.
We draw the attention of every wholesale and retail operator of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.
In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.
The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.
EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act no. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On Excise Duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty rate shall be applied. Based on the implementation of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty rate shall be applied in full, 100%.
Diesel for fishing – the selling price of diesel for fishing, referred to Law 9975, date 28.07.2008 “On National Taxes”, in Article 9 “Exemptions from the payment of national taxes”, point 6 It is provided: …“Fishing vessels are exempt from paying the turnover tax and carbon tax. Also, referring to Article 10, point 3 letter “d” of Law 61/2012 “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania”, it is provided that fuel for fishing vessels is exempt from excise duties, in the quantities, conditions and criteria specified in the Council of Ministers. Referring to the methodology specified in the normative act, the selling price of diesel for fishing results in 92 lek.
