VIDEO/ 88-year-old former Indian prime minister escapes assassination attempt at wedding, moment of gunfire

88-year-old Farooq Abdullah, former chief minister of Indian Kashmir and president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, has escaped an assassination attempt during a wedding in the city of Jammu.
Security camera footage shows a man firing a gun from very close range, but without managing to injure the politician.
Police identified the suspect as Kamal Singh Jambal, who was arrested at the scene. According to Indian media, he said he had been waiting for this moment for 20 years and showed no signs of remorse.
Abdullah's son, Omar Abdullah, the region's current prime minister, confirmed the incident in a post on social media.
He said his father narrowly escaped the assassination attempt and questioned how it was possible for someone to get so close to a politician who is protected by Z+ security, one of the highest levels of protection in India.
During the attack, Farooq Abdullah was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary and Advisor Nasir Sogami, who confirmed that no one was injured.
Meanwhile, police are continuing their investigation into the perpetrator's motives, while according to preliminary reports, Kamal Singh Jambal is suspected of having personal motives for the attack.
