SP defended Balluk from arrest, Lapaj: Parliament in the hands of a bunch of

The leader of the "Albania Becomes" movement, Adriatik Lapaj, has reacted to the protest held in front of the Prime Minister's Office regarding today's decision in Parliament, where the majority led by Edi Rama voted against granting authorization to SPAK to arrest Belinda Balluku.

In his speech to the protesters, Lapaj criticized the current electoral system, stating that MPs in Albania do not represent citizens, but are dependent on party leaders.

"When you say MP in Albania, because of the electoral law, you mean subordinate, servant of the next president who leads the most corrupt government in Europe. That is why we have emphasized deep reforms and changing the electoral law, so that every person in Parliament has the dignity to vote as their electorate would like," he said.

According to Lapaj, today's decision in the Assembly shows that politics protects the interests of a narrow elite. He accused the majority of obstructing justice and protecting its officials from investigations.

"Today we have a republic taken hostage by a bunch of bandits who couldn't get enough of stealing. They acted as if they were in favor of justice until their elite was threatened. Today they showed their anti-European and anti-law face," Lapaj declared.
