Breaking of ceasefire with Lebanon/ Israel and Hezbollah carry out attacks on

Israel and Hezbollah exchanged attacks yesterday and today, despite the ceasefire reached.

In a newly announced strike, the Israeli air force killed a Hezbollah fighter yesterday in the Sajoud area, in southern Lebanon.

Israel justified the attack by saying it was preventing a "direct threat" to communities in northern Israel.

As part of the 10-day ceasefire announced on April 16, the US State Department said Israel has "the right to take all necessary measures in self-defense, at any time, against planned, imminent or ongoing attacks."

In addition, the IDF said that earlier today, Hezbollah fired an "anti-tank rocket" towards its forces.

This happened south of the front line of defense, also in southern Lebanon. Israel has demanded that all Lebanese be relocated north of the line, over the Litani River.

The IDF added: “The rocket hit near the forces; there were no casualties among our troops. This constitutes a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.”
