Iran's Revolutionary Guard: We will set fire to any ship that passes through the Strait of Hormuz

A commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards said the Strait of Hormuz is closed and that Iranian forces will attack any ship that tries to pass through it.
This is the clearest warning from Tehran since Saturday's announcement, when Iranian authorities announced that they would block this strategic sea route - a key point for oil transportation, through which about 20% of its global consumption passes.
"The strait is closed. Anyone who tries to pass, the heroes of the Revolutionary Guard and the Navy will set fire to the ships," said General Ebrahim Jafari, in a message broadcast on Iranian state television.
The strait connects Middle Eastern countries with high oil production such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
Earlier, the Revolutionary Guards announced that a fuel tanker had caught fire after an attack by two drones, according to Iranian news agencies.
