US Central Command announces that it sank 11 Iranian ships in the Gulf of Oman, leaving Iran without any ships in the area.
"Two days ago, the Iranian regime had 11 ships in the Gulf of Oman, today they have ZERO," the statement said.
Meanwhile, satellite images captured today show damage to an Iranian seaport in the Strait of Hormuz, near the city of Bandar Abbas.
The images show at least one ship damaged, with dark smoke rising from it.
At around 230 metres long, it is one of the largest ships typically seen in the southern Iranian port and has visual characteristics consistent with a base ship operated by the Iranian Navy, the BBC writes.
