Photovoltaic panels/ Municipal Council meeting in Bulqiza interrupted, officers clash with residents
In Bulqiza, the Municipal Council meeting was interrupted due to tensions created by the presence of residents of Gjorica, who oppose the construction of photovoltaic panels in their area.
According to them, this project directly violates the pastures that they have used for years for livestock, endangering their livelihoods.
Residents also claim that the project approval process was marred by irregularities, as signatures in support of the panels were collected from people who do not live in Gjorica. This has further increased dissatisfaction and distrust in the decision-making of local authorities.
The situation was further tense by the presence of numerous police forces, who prevented residents from entering the meeting hall.
Meanwhile, right-wing councilors were also not allowed in, as the door to the hall was closed. They were informed that the meeting had been postponed to another day, even though the scheduled time for it had not yet arrived.
This situation has raised questions about the transparency and normal functioning of local institutions, while residents are demanding that their voices be heard and the project be reviewed.
