Helping migrants cross the border illegally, 27-year-old arrested in Koplik

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Koplik after being caught red-handed helping 6 migrants cross the border illegally.

Operations continue to prevent and crack down on the criminal activity of providing assistance to migrants for illegal border crossing.

The operation codenamed "Transit" is finalized.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested for helping immigrants from third countries, in return for payment, to cross borders illegally.

The 27-year-old was caught red-handed in Koplik, transporting 6 migrants in a vehicle who were intending to cross the border with Montenegro.

Six immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are being prosecuted for illegally crossing the border.

The 27-year-old's vehicle and cell phone were seized.

The Trafficking Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Malësi e Madhe Police Commissariat, based on information obtained through operational means, regarding a case of providing assistance to foreign citizens, in return for payment, for illegal border crossing, organized and finalized the operation codenamed "Transit". As a result of this operation, the citizen was arrested in flagrante delicto:

-AS, 27 years old, resident of Karbunara.

Also, criminal proceedings were initiated against the following citizens: MR, 44 years old, RA, 31 years old, IA, 29 years old, S. Ch., 30 years old, SB, 20 years old and a 16-year-old, from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, for illegally entering the territory of the Republic of Albania.

Citizen AK was caught red-handed, in Koplik, transporting these 6 immigrants by vehicle, who were intending to cross the border with Montenegro.

The investigation suspects that citizen AK was helping immigrants from third countries to illegally cross the land border with Greece and then the land border with Montenegro, transporting them by vehicle, in exchange for a payment of 650 euros per person.

Investigations are ongoing to fully document this criminal activity, as well as to identify and apprehend other citizens who may have been involved.

The procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Shkodra, for further action.
