Germany files lawsuit against Albanian mother who took children from school without permission to fly to Tirana
A mother traveled with her children without permission from school through Memmingen Airport to Albania and now risks prosecution.
Border police at Memmingen Airport checked a 35-year-old woman with her two school-age children during an exit check early in the morning of March 25.
According to border police at Memmingen Airport, the family wanted to travel by plane to Tirana, Albania.
The mother, an Albanian citizen with permanent residence in Baden-Württemberg, was traveling with her two daughters, ages 9 and 6.
According to the border police, the woman stated that she had taken the children on regular leave from school, after a relative in Albania had suddenly fallen seriously ill.
The school confirmed that there was no permission.
The case was quickly discovered: a check with the relevant school showed that no leave of absence had been granted for the two girls. Furthermore, the flights for the three passengers had been booked back in January.
Administrative proceedings may be opened.
The relevant authorities in Baden-Württemberg will be informed about the incident. According to the border police, they will decide independently whether to open an administrative procedure for violating school obligations.
