Albanian drug trafficking organization dismantled, 3 people who ran it arrested!

A large-scale operation has been carried out by police and carabinieri in the Trieste area, where an Albanian cocaine trafficking organization has reportedly been dismantled.

Three carabinieri patrols from Trieste arrested members of a group of Albanians dealing drugs.

The raid took place on Monday afternoon in Piazza Foraggi and three of the suspects were arrested, while the investigation and search for the others are being expanded. Witnesses reported that one of the detainees was on foot and the other two in a large car.

The extensive operation, which investigators are still maintaining the utmost secrecy about, had been planned for a long time; the army had been monitoring the group for many months through wiretapping and telephone surveillance.

Those who live in the area describe it as a very run-down area with several drug trafficking incidents, but at the same time, a strong presence of law enforcement officers dressed as civilians.

According to reports from passersby who witnessed the scene, three carabinieri cars (one of them in civilian clothes) suddenly blocked the path of the wanted persons' vehicle.

"I saw everything," the witness repeats, "they blocked them with their cars and when they got out, they pointed their guns at them."

The case is being handled by Public Prosecutor Chiara De Grassi of the Trieste Public Prosecutor's Office. The operation is being kept strictly confidential within investigative circles.

But from what we know, the investigation concerns a large cocaine trafficking network, particularly concentrated in Trieste. Some of the drugs were found in an apartment in the Servola area, as well as cash, Italian media reports .

The complex investigation by the Carabinieri began months ago after the arrest of a Moroccan national in an apartment located in the same area as Monday's armed raid: Piazza Foraggi. The foreigner, who had been under investigation for a series of computer frauds, also had a gun in his home.

It turned out that the man was carrying the weapon on behalf of an Albanian criminal organization that had established roots in Trieste to manage a large-scale drug trafficking operation. The investigation may continue to track down his associates and the entire drug trafficking network.
