Wanted for two decades, the Albanian convicted of cocaine trafficking in Italy

In an international police operation between Italy and Spain, an Albanian wanted by the justice system of the neighboring country for international cocaine trafficking has been identified, located and arrested.

The operation was carried out in Spain, where the Albanian originally from Durrës, whose name was not published, had been hiding since 2004, while there was an international search warrant against him and a conviction in absentia.

The Police and Carabinieri of Fermo confirmed the action of two days ago.

He was wanted to serve a remaining sentence of 4.5 years in prison and a fine of approximately 9,000 euros for conspiracy to distribute narcotics and conspiracy to possess weapons, both committed in the province.

"The arrested Albanian had been actively sought since 2004 and is now at the disposal of the Central National Court of Madrid (Spain) pending surrender and extradition procedures. Specifically, the Albanian, along with others, was found guilty of supplying cocaine, amounting to approximately 340 average daily doses, as well as supplying other quantities of narcotic substances such as heroin, cocaine and marijuana," informs   Italian media .

Furthermore, he had illegally possessed marijuana, weighing approximately 2 kg – a significant quantity – for the purpose of supplying third parties, and, together with others, had possessed ammunition for a conventional firearm without a permit.

During the investigative activity carried out by the Carabinieri, to locate and capture individuals targeted by the coercive measures, it became possible to obtain useful information on the Albanian, with detailed indications regarding his location and presence initially in Albania, in the Durrës area and then in Spain.
