The famous 82-year-old actor, Robert De Niro, was backstage at Studio 54 in New York City during his visit for the Broadway show "Oedipus," where he collaborated with Mark Strong and Lesley Manville.
A representative for the actor confirmed to People that De Niro recently underwent surgery, without providing further details about its nature.
According to sources, the actor is not expected to remain confined to a wheelchair for long after the surgery and his condition is under control, reassuring fans who were alarmed by the thinner appearance of his body in public appearances in recent months.
However, De Niro has remained active. He has made public appearances, including Jimmy Kimmel Live! and a visit to the Vatican, showing that he has not stopped his professional and social activities.
This surgery comes several years after he suffered a serious leg injury in May 2021 while filming Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon.
