American Lottery Restarts/ From Payment to Identification, Here Are the Criteria That Must Be Met

After a year of suspension, from the fall of this year Albanian citizens will be able to apply for the American lottery 2027. In a connection with Dita Jonë on A2 CNN, lawyer Elona Berki explained the changes in the application procedure and the criteria that citizens must meet. According to her, the State Department has published several static registration procedures from the payment of one euro to identification.

"Several static procedures have been put into play, such as registration at a cost of one euro, the obligation to have a valid passport at the time of application, a photo of the last few months, and a more accurate identification. Not just anyone can apply, but someone who exists, the person's existence must be approved. This is an administrative policy of the State Department to make this system more secure," the lawyer told Dita Jonë on A2 CNN.

These changes in the application procedure, according to her, were made with the aim of disrupting the network of massive, fictitious, or double and triple applications that have occurred over the years.

"DASH has decided to make this procedure safer. Two of the changes that have been made; the word Gender has been changed to Sex. If previously the age was required (Age), this year it has been changed to (Date Of Birth)," she explained.

The lawyer emphasized that despite the change in application procedures, the number of beneficiaries from the American lottery will be the same.

"March 11 was the date when the changes were published and will come into effect in April, but the American lottery will start applying in September-October 2026. The number of beneficiaries from the American lottery remains the same. There will simply be a greater selection. Those who are disqualified are those who do not apply properly," the lawyer emphasized.
