Oil over 60 lek cheaper per liter/ Fuel price increase, citizens flock to Macedonia: Albanian state to take measures

The increase in fuel prices in the country is forcing more and more Albanian citizens to seek more economical alternatives abroad.
One of the main countries remains North Macedonia through the Qafë Thana border crossing point where oil is traded at significantly lower prices.
The difference, which reaches up to 60 lek per liter, has caused many drivers, especially from areas near the border, to travel to the neighboring country to refuel, reducing monthly costs.
Citizens say that, due to high prices in the country, supplies from North Macedonia remain the best alternative.
Citizens of North Macedonia confirm that although prices have increased in their country, they remain more competitive compared to Albania.
They add that they have seen many Albanian citizens sourcing in Macedonia and even call for the Albanian state to take action.
Today, in North Macedonia, a liter of diesel is sold for around 90 denars or approximately 140 new lekë, while in Albania the price reaches up to 220 lekë per liter.
This considerable gap continues to encourage Albanian citizens to cross the border to get supplies.
