"The Veliaj case, a test for justice", Ndreca: A typical case of deep

The case against Erion Veliaj is a test for the Albanian justice system itself, said lawyer Plarent Ndreca, who has taken on the mayor's defense.

In the Breaking studio on Top News, he emphasized that this file is not just an individual issue, but a case that tests the standards of justice in the country.

Ndreca added that the issue is a direct test for the system:

"It is a challenging file, but more than for me, it is challenging for justice itself. Because this is one of those cases that will show how justice will behave in relation to the European standards that we require as a country aspiring to be a member of the European Union."

According to him, involvement in this process is also related to personal and professional convictions:

"The reason why me? They are related either to the fact of my personal acquaintance with Mr. Veliaj, as an old friend, or to the fact that we have an obligation, let's say political. I consider it so. I have a political obligation because of the outstanding contributions that Mr. Veliaj has in Albanian politics, in the Socialist Party and in the municipality of Tirana as mayor of Tirana, but what is most important is as a professional, who has a professional obligation to face issues of this nature, which are in fact representative of a deep deformation that the justice system has and this is a typical representative case of this deformation and that I think that professionals should be at the forefront of these processes."
