The nomination was a surprise, but not the election. Arkimed Lushaj, widely known to the public by his stage name "Stresi", after the vote was counted, emerged as the winner as a member of the National Council of the "Renewed" Democratic Party. His election was unquestionable during the proceedings of the National Assembly on Saturday at the Palace of Congresses, as Sali Berisha himself promoted him on his Facebook page, something he did not do with any other candidate. But who is Arkimed Lusha? He is one of the most popular rappers and figures of hip-hop music in Albania, who, although 42 years old, has just made his official step into active politics and in such a high forum of Berisha's Democratic Party.
Musical career and public profile
Stresi started his music career around 2007 and is the founder of the label "BadBoys4Life". He is known for his rebellious style, lyrics related to street life, and has a large audience among young people in Albania and Kosovo (where he has also won television formats such as Big Brother VIP Kosovo).
Despite his image in music, he has completed his higher studies in Psychology, although he has never practiced this profession.
Historical Connection
His election to the highest forums of the DP comes from his father's strong connection with Sali Berisha. He is the son of Sali Lushaj, one of the most loyal figures and known over the years as a close supporter and former bodyguard of Sali Berisha since the 1990s.
Stresi himself has always been publicly active in support of the Democratic Party, participating in rallies, electoral campaigns, and various opposition protests over the years.
His Political Message
During the announcement of his candidacy for the National Council, he stated that this decision is not a "catapult", but comes after a long and natural commitment to this political force. He emphasized:
"I came from the street, from real life, from the challenges that every young person knows well. That's why I want our voice to be heard where decisions are made. The time has come for youth to stand up, speak up, and take the place they deserve."

Gjatë viteve, Stresi ka qenë disa herë i arrestuar apo i shpallur në kërkim nga Policia e Shtetit për vepra të ndryshme penale. Ka pasur disa raste ku është shoqëruar apo arrestuar për armëmbajtje pa leje. Në disa raste, ai ka sfiduar hapur autoritetet duke postuar video apo foto në rrjetet sociale me armë, gjë që ka nxitur reagimin e policisë.
Në vitin 2018, ai u arrestua në një ambient hoteli në Tiranë nën akuzat për përfshirje në një grup kriminal të skeduar për trafikim lëndësh narkotike dhe armëmbajtje. Ai kaloi disa muaj në paraburgim përpara se të lirohej.
Arratisja spektakolare nga Komisariati
Një nga ngjarjet që i dha atij një lloj "famë legjendare" mes ndjekësve të tij, por që alarmoi autoritetet, ishte arratisja nga Komisariati Nr. 3 në Tiranë në vitin 2015.
Pasi ishte shoqëruar nga policia për shkelje të rregullave të qarkullimit dhe mosbindje, ai arriti të hidhej nga dritarja e katit të dytë të komisariatit dhe u largua në drejtim të paditur, duke nxjerrë zbuluar njerëzit e sigurimit (ngjarje e cila solli edhe pezullimin e disa punonjësve të policisë).
Protagonizmi në protesta dhe "I shpallur në kërkim"
Përtej problemeve të natyrës thjesht ordinere, Stresi ka pasur probleme me policinë edhe për shkak të aktivizmit të tij radikal në protesta. Pas vrasjes së të riut Klodian Rasha nga një punonjës policie, Stresi u bë një nga fytyrat kryesore dhe organizatorët e protestave të dhunshme që shpërthyen në Tiranë. Policia e shpalli në kërkim si një nga organizatorët kryesorë të tubimeve të paligjshme dhe shkatërrimit të pronës publike. Ai u largua për disa kohë në Kosovë për t'i shpëtuar arrestimit.
Stresi në Këshillin e PD dhe polemika mes demokratëve
Në çdo parti tradicionale apo konservatore, një CV e tillë penale do të ishte skualifikuese e menjëhershme. Megjithatë, në dinamikën aktuale të Partisë Demokratike (Rithemelimit), ky historik interpretohet në dy mënyra të ndryshme:
Berisha's supporters and part of the leadership see his clashes with the police not as ordinary criminality, but as "political persecution" by the ruling regime. Stresi himself implied in his speech that he suffered police pressure because he has always been openly against the socialist government. For them, his rebellion and the fact that he "does not break" in front of the police is seen as bravery and opposition value on the ground.
For Sali Berisha's critics, his involvement in such high-profile forums is proof of the party's "degradation of criteria." They argue that Berisha is promoting loyal people in order to solve his personal and family problems with the justice system, despite having criminal records, and bringing the "street" model to the party instead of intellectuals or educated youth./Alfapress.al
