UN concerned about Israel's progress in Lebanon, emergency Security Council meeting

The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on the expansion of the Israeli military operation in Lebanon, following the occupation of the medieval Beaufort Castle by the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF), diplomatic sources quoted by AFP said.
The emergency meeting was requested by France and is expected to take place immediately after another emergency meeting of the Security Council, which concerns the downing of a Russian drone into an apartment building in Romania.
According to the same sources, the meeting on the incident in Romania is scheduled for 3:00 PM New York time, while the discussion on developments in Lebanon will follow immediately.
The meeting is taking place at a time of high tensions in the region, as Israel has expanded its operations in southern Lebanon and announced the capture of the strategically important Beaufort Castle, a development that the Israeli government described as an important step in the campaign against Hezbollah.
