DP in protest today! Rama's resignation is demanded, what is expected to happen before the Prime Minister's Office

The opposition is organizing its seventh national protest today, demanding the resignation of the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama after his former deputy, Belinda Balluku, was implicated in corruption scandals, while SPAK's request for her arrest was rejected by the majority with a show of hands.
The rally is expected to start at 7:00 PM in front of the Prime Minister's Office, while the protest organizers have notified the State Police that the protest is expected to end at 10:00 PM.
It is expected that the scenario followed today will be that of several previous protests, and instead of a march throughout Tirana, speeches by DP leaders, representatives of the youth forum, allied parties and activists will return. It is learned that the podium will be placed in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
During the recent protests, the protest podium was missing, while the scenario focused on marching and throwing Molotov cocktails and fireworks at government institutions.
However, it is not ruled out that Friday's protest will take other developments during the evening.
The State Police has also announced security measures regarding the protest, stating that vehicle movement will be restricted on several road axes, specifically:
-from 23:45 on 16.04.2026 until the end of the rally, traffic will be blocked and parking of vehicles will not be allowed on the "Dëshmorët e Kombit" boulevard, from the place called "Ura e Dajtit" to "Ismail Qemali" street;
-from 15:00 on 17.04.2026 until the end of the rally, there will be a traffic jam on the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard, from the intersection near the Ministry of Interior to "Mother Teresa" square, as well as on the streets "Free Ukraine", "Papa John Paul II" and "Ismail Qemali".
Representatives of the political entity Democratic Party of Albania have notified the Tirana Police of the holding of a rally, on 17.04.2026, from 19:00 to 22:00, on the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard, in front of the Prime Minister's Office building.
Based on the law "On Gatherings", Tirana Police has taken measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the gathering at the requested location and time frame.
In implementation of these measures, today and tomorrow, movement will be restricted on several road axes/segments, specifically:
from 23:45 on 16.04.2026 until the end of the rally, traffic will be blocked and no parking will be allowed on the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard,
from the place called “Ura e Dajtit” to “Ismail Qemali” street;
from 15:00 on 17.04.2026 until the end of the rally, there will be a traffic blockage on the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard, from the intersection near
Ministry of Interior to "Mother Teresa" Square, as well as on "Free Ukraine", "Papa John Paul II" and "Ismail Qemali" streets.
Tirana Police appeals to the organizers of the rally to respect the deadline and the place where the rally will take place, and asks for citizens' understanding regarding the restriction of vehicle movement.
It also appeals to distance themselves if they are faced with illegal actions that violate public order and safety.
