Legal changes for ministerial immunity aimed at by Rama, US Embassy: Independence of Justice, essential!
The US Embassy in Tirana has reacted to Euronews Albania regarding the legal changes to the Criminal Code and Prime Minister Edi Rama's warning about interference in legislation following the Constitutional Court's decision.
Euronews, in its question to the US embassy, emphasizes that the declared goal is to prevent the exercise by the justice bodies (SPAK and GJKKO) of the measure of suspension from duty of senior officials such as members of the Council of Ministers, the President and other officials.
The embassy, in its response, emphasized that it does not comment on pending legal matters. According to it, the independence of justice institutions in Albania remains essential for cooperation between the two countries in the fight against crime.
