Protest postponed/Farmers occupy central Athens with tractors

Hundreds of farmers from across Greece have moved their protest to central Athens, gathering with tractors in Syntagma Square, opposite the Greek Parliament.

The caravan of agricultural vehicles arrived at around 4:45 p.m., while organizers have announced that they will stay overnight in the square and are expected to leave by noon on Saturday. The protest is coordinated by a nationwide committee that is leading roadblocks in several regions of the country.

In solidarity with the farmers, unions have called another rally in the same location, against the government's draft law on collective labor agreements. The demonstration was also joined by students, who marched from Omonia Square to Syntagma.

Greek authorities have announced special traffic management measures in central Athens and on the main highways of the Attica region. Police warned that restrictions could change depending on the situation and urged drivers to follow official instructions.
