Scandal in Tirana/ The palace is flooded by sewage every time it rains,

The situation of the construction of a building on the wastewater collector on "Faik Konica" Street in Tirana has become a serious problem for residents, who for more than two years have been facing flooding of garages and sewage overflowing to the surface every time it rains.

According to residents, construction on the collector has brought direct consequences in terms of environmental pollution, strong odors and health risks. They state that, although they pay all the dues, they clean the flooded garages themselves with sewage, which requires specialized treatment and disinfection.

In a confrontation conducted by the show Fiks Fare, the citizen faced off with the engineer of Tirana Water and Sewerage (UKT), Enton Osmani.

According to the UKT engineer, the collector passes under the building and any intervention to move it would endanger the building's supporting structure. He emphasized that the diversion requires a new route of about 70 meters, but the area is full of private properties and the lack of topographic quotas makes the technical solution very difficult. Currently, according to UKT, the only solution is to intervene with probes and pumps for periodic unblocking.

On the other hand, the citizen insists that the diversion is feasible and that the problem is related to unauthorized construction in the area, which prevents the passage of the new pipeline. The engineer admitted that the surrounding properties are not under the administration of the Municipality or UKT, which further complicates the situation.

In an official written response to “Fiks Fare”, UKT explained that the collector has been inspected several times and interventions have been carried out to unblock the network. The institution emphasizes that the construction of the building on top of the collector and its concrete covering make operation and maintenance extremely difficult, while the relocation presents technical and legal obstacles. According to UKT, the construction permit was granted without prior approval from the relevant institution.

However, UKT guarantees that it will continue emergency interventions whenever problems arise, while a final solution remains conditional on a new project and cooperation with the municipality and the owners of the area.

Meanwhile, residents continue to live in difficult conditions, amidst pollution and insecurity, waiting for a concrete solution that will put an end to the recurring floods. /Fiks Fare show
