Not like "January 21" and violent party rallies/ Peaceful protest of citizens challenging the establishment with... phones and social networks

Tirana witnessed yesterday evening the largest protest organized so far, exceeding the participation of eight previous rallies. After speeches held in front of the Prime Minister's Office, thousands of citizens yesterday started the march along the "Martyrs of the Nation" Boulevard and the main streets of the capital. For the ninth consecutive day, Albanians took to the streets and demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. The civic revolt is now at explosive levels.

Footage from the ground shows a massive turnout, as citizens continue to march with national flags, banners and anti-government slogans. The protesters' main demand remains the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the removal of the government.

What is most striking is the fact that the protest is taking place without incident, without damage to public property and without clashes with the police. In this respect, today's rally presents a stark contrast to some of the most tense protests in Albanian political history. Unlike the tragic events of January 21, 2011, when the protest ended with the loss of four lives and violent clashes in front of the Prime Minister's Office, today's march is characterized by civic engagement, organization and peaceful participation, which is being exercised as a demonstration of anger against the government.

Many of the participants are young people, who have mobilized primarily through social media. This is a generation that seeks change through civic participation, online communication, and democratic pressure, distancing itself from the violent forms practiced by old political parties.

The march of thousands of citizens in the heart of Tirana is being seen as an example of how a massive civic revolt can be built without tension and without incidents.

The protests have become one of the most commented events of recent days, while every day more and more people are calling for Edi Rama's resignation.
