"No immunity for thieves!" Joint Movement protests in front of the

Activists and citizens protested this evening in front of the Parliament against the majority's decision not to lift the immunity of former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.

The protest was called by the Together Movement, which demands that Balluku face justice following the request of SPAK, which is investigating him for corruption and violation of equality in tenders.

"No immunity for thieves"  was the main call at the protest.

The socialist majority's decision on Balluk's immunity, according to the protesters, is an attempt to protect "the dirty deeds he has done with Edi Rama, at the expense of the Albanian people."

The leader of the Together Movement, Arlind Qori, ironically began his speech by saying that, according to Rama, the fight against corruption is a violation of human rights.

"The reasons why he defends Balluk are two: first, to tell the hundreds of other 'Balluks' in the SP to continue stealing in peace, because the reform in justice has its days numbered. Second, because he does not want to be forced to surrender himself to justice tomorrow when SPAK requests his immunity,"  Qori said.

SPAK's request to lift Belinda Balluku's immunity is expected to be voted on in the Assembly tomorrow. The Socialist Party has stated that it will vote against it. Balluku is accused of corruption and violation of equality in tenders.
