Invited to the show "Dekalog" by Roland Qafoku on DritareTV, Alesia Balliu made public her decision to run for the position of leader of the Democratic Party, declaring an open battle against the current leadership and asking Sali Berisha to permanently leave the political scene.
"Mr. Berisha is the past, he must accept this fact. He must retire. The Democratic Party needs young people with vision to take it forward," declared Balliu.

"Without a doubt, yes. Alesia Balliu is a candidate in the race for president of the Democratic Party. I have the right vision. I am not afraid of challenges."
Balliu said she is aware of the difficulties and the fact that all party structures will be against her, but stressed that her support does not come from closed forums, but from citizens, especially young people who are seeking change.
"These structures, mainly of the DPA and the parliamentary group established by Sali Berisha, are no longer loved by the people. Their political time has expired. They may have a mandate, but they serve no purpose," Balliu said.
