The Albanian flag is one of the five oldest in the world

"Patriotwood" has conducted a research from which it has extracted the five oldest flags of countries in the world. The oldest flags are: Scotland, Austria, Latvia, Denmark and Albania.
Flag of Scotland The flag of Scotland first appeared in 832 AD and is known as the oldest flag in Europe.
Flag of Austria The flag of Austria contains three equal horizontal stripes in the colors red, white and red. The flag was officially adopted in 1230.
Flag of Latvia The flag of Latvia is one of the oldest flags in the world, first mentioned in a medieval chronicle called "Rhymed Chronicle of Livonia" in 1280.
Flag of Denmark The flag of Denmark was officially adopted in 1307 or earlier and holds the Guinness World Record for the oldest continuously used national flag. According to legend, the flag fell from the sky during the Battle of Lyndanisse in 1219, when the Danes won the victory over the Estonians after a prayer. However, this legend has no proven historical basis.
Flag of Albania The flag of Albania has a red background with a black double-headed eagle in the center. The first use of the flag occurred on November 28, 1443, when Skenderbeu raised the flag over the fortress of Kruja in the war against the Turkish rule. The double-headed eagle design was borrowed from the Byzantine Empire and reused by Albanian nationalists in the 19th and 20th centuries.
