Rushiti is the founder and leader of the Kosovo Center for the Rehabilitation of Torture Survivors (KRRT), which, together with her center, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2025 by a Swedish lawmaker.
She founded the KRC in 1999 with the mission of providing treatment and rehabilitation for victims of torture in Kosovo. The center also promotes respect for human rights for all ethnic groups living in Kosovo and the prevention and eradication of torture and all forms of ill-treatment.
In 2018, Rushiti was honored with the Women's Courage Award presented by the US Secretary of State.
The award was given to honor the impact of her work on the lives of survivors and for her role as a world leader in human rights advocacy.

She is the director of the AUTISM association.
This association organizes various activities aimed at raising awareness about autism, but also at including people with autism in society.
