The news of Ervin Mata's arrest in Brazil has been reported in foreign media.
One of them, CNN writes that Ervin Mata, internationally wanted for criminal activity, was arrested during the operation that took place in Ilhabela, on the coast of the state of São Paulo, by the Federal Police in collaboration with the local Military Police.
According to official reports, Mata had been on the run since September 2025, while there was an arrest warrant against him for international drug trafficking and participation in a criminal organization. He had been internationally wanted since November 2023.
Brazilian authorities say the arrest was made possible after intelligence information indicated that he had moved from the Baixada Santista region towards the North Coast. During the patrol, the suspect was located in a business premises and then escorted to the Federal Police station in São Sebastião.
During the operation, police seized two mobile phones and documents belonging to Mata, which are expected to serve to deepen the investigation.
According to investigations by Albanian authorities, Ervin Mata is suspected of having coordinated the trafficking of around 240 kilograms of cocaine to Frankfurt, Germany in 2020. He is also accused of having benefited from large sums of money from criminal activity, as well as of involvement in the organization and financing of murders.
