VAT refunds increase by 7.2% during the 10-month period

VAT refunds for businesses continued to increase significantly during the period January-October 2025, reaching 21.1 billion lek, or 7.2% more than in the same period in 2024.

According to data published by the Ministry of Finance, the pace of refunds confirms the continuity of the process for the timely return of obligations to taxpayers and supporting the liquidity of businesses.

In parallel with the increase in refunds, net Value Added Tax (VAT) revenues were realized at 56.7 billion lek, marking an increase of 7.5 billion lek or 15.3% compared to the first ten months of 2024, as well as 112 million lek above the plan for the period.

In total, the Tax Administration collected 214 billion lek from taxes and fees for the first ten months of 2025, 25 billion lek or 13.2% more than a year earlier, while performance resulted in 472 million lek above the projected plan.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the positive performance of refunds and tax revenues reflects the increase in economic activity, the improvement of tax administration, and the strengthening of control mechanisms against informality.
