Transparency Board Changes/ Oil Price Drops, Gasoline Changes Too

The Transparency Board has changed the price of oil again.

According to the latest announcement, the price has been reduced by 5 lek and will not be sold for more than 190 lek/liter, while the wholesale price will not be more than 178 lek/liter.

The price of fuel has also changed, it will be no more than 179 lek/liter, while the wholesale price will be no more than 167 lek/liter.

The Transparency Board on May 27, 2026, at its next meeting decided:
✅The retail price of the SSH EN 590 standard diesel by-product shall not exceed 190 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall not exceed 178 lek/liter.
✅The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product shall not exceed 179 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall not exceed 167 lek/liter.
????️The prices set by the Board will enter into force today, the 27th at 1:30 p.m. and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.
⚠️We draw the attention of every wholesale and retail operator of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.
????In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.
????️ The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.

EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the application of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty level shall be applied in full, 100%.
