$1 trillion lost from cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin at 7-month low

The great cryptocurrency crisis of 2025 entered a new phase on Wednesday, as Bitcoin fell to its lowest level in seven months, extending losses of more than $1 trillion across the world of digital assets.

The largest cryptocurrency fell to $88,522, with the latest drop hitting investors large and small – from individual buyers taking advantage of the dips to digital asset management firms whose stock returns are disappearing.

Token prices rebounded slightly after strong results from Nvidia, helping to ease concerns that global spending on artificial intelligence is about to fizzle out. Bitcoin rose as much as 2.5% Thursday morning during Asian trading.

The total cryptocurrency market capitalization peaked at $4.3 trillion on October 6 and now hovers around $3.2 trillion. However, most of this change reflects accounting losses rather than actual cash losses.
