Her name has been linked to a run for mayor of Paris in the March 2026 elections, but the criminal case has sparked political confusion and criticism from potential political rivals against Anne Hidalgo's socialist stronghold and other rivals.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for September 29, 2025, which will set the date for the start of the trial. The trial is expected to take place after the Paris municipal elections.
