Defeat in local elections, Starmer is challenged by his party's MPs!

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is facing intense pressure within his party after poor results in local and regional elections.

The Labour Party suffered heavy losses, while the far-right Reform UK party gained ground. This has increased discontent within Labour's ranks.

Labour MP Catherine West has said she is ready to challenge Starmer's leadership if no ministers resign.

To officially launch a process of challenging the party leader, the support of 20% of the Labor parliamentary group is needed, which means 81 MPs.

So far, more than 30 MPs have called for Starmer's removal, but it is not certain whether they will support an open leadership contest.

If the required number of signatures is reached, a formal process to challenge the party leadership could be launched. This would put huge pressure on key Labour figures who could enter the race to replace Starmer.

Meanwhile, if the challenge fails to secure the necessary support, it could intensify internal tensions and further fuel discussions for a change at the top of the party.
