"Justice for Xhuana"/ Family members light candles in memory of 25-year-old, her sisters break silence for the first time

In an emotionally charged atmosphere, her sisters, Marjana and Silvana Nikolli, broke their silence for the first time.

"Justice for Xhuana" - amidst tears and pain, family members, citizens and relatives gathered again to light candles in memory of 25-year-old Xhuana Nikolli, who tragically lost her life a few weeks ago.

In an emotionally charged atmosphere, her sisters, Marjana and Silvana Nikolli, broke their silence for the first time, demanding a full investigation into the incident and bringing the perpetrator to justice.

Through tears, they appealed for law enforcement institutions to react responsibly, while emphasizing that this tragedy should serve as a wake-up call for every girl and woman facing violence or threats.

"Xhuana should not be forgotten. Justice for her is a message to every woman who needs to feel protected," said the family members during the civic tribute.

The serious incident, in which young Xhuana Nikolli passed away at the QSUT, occurred on March 10 of this year. She passed away at the Mother Teresa Hospital Center, due to self-poisoning with fostoxin.

A day after the incident, her family filed a report at police station number 2 in Tirana against her husband, claiming that he was exercising violence against the young woman.

Signs of violence were also found on her body. Meanwhile, Tirana Police have declared her husband wanted, but have not yet managed to arrest him.

The couple was married in June 2025, but separated 4 months ago due to conflicts between them.

The girl was found in serious condition by her friend, who then called the emergency services. The 25-year-old's friend testified to the blue uniforms that Xhuana Nikolli was being systematically raped by her partner.

The 25-year-old had also left a letter before taking the extreme act.

It is suspected that she was systematically raped, while apologizing to her family for the choices she had made in life.
