Poisoning of former Russian spy, Starmer: Britain must be vigilant against Putin

Sir Keir Starmer has commented on the findings of the report on Novichok in Salisbury, saying the investigation shows Britain must "remain vigilant" to Russian threats.
Speaking at RAF Lossiemouth in Moray, the Prime Minister told broadcasters that Dawn Sturgess' family and friends have been through a great deal of suffering.
"But this report is clear: the moral responsibility falls on Putin. And it is also further evidence of appalling and reckless hostile activity on British soil. That is why it is so important that we are imposing the toughest sanctions on the GRU for the first time, but it also underlines why we must remain vigilant against the ever-present threat from Putin and Russia."
"This is not just in Ukraine; in this case, the report is clear, the threat is on our soil. And here I am in Lossiemouth, where we have discussed with staff the work they are doing to keep us safe from Russian threats, particularly in our waters," Starmer said.
When asked if he could guarantee that another poisoning like the one in 2018 could be prevented, Starmer said:
"We work with our allies on intelligence all the time to keep our countries safe. So, whether it's in intelligence or in operations that are carried out by countries like this, we do everything within our power, working with key allies to keep ourselves safe and to keep our citizens protected from all threats, but especially right now from Russia," he said.
