Former head of ARRSH requested a shortened trial: Cellphone conversations should be deleted

A preliminary hearing is being held for the former head of the ARRSH, Ervis Berberi, and his associates.
Ervis Berberi has requested a summary trial.
He also claims the return of items, deletion of correspondence, and loss of use of data received from the cell phone.
"In the preliminary hearing for the file in charge of former ARRSH director Evis Berberi, SPAK is questioning businessman Valter Begaj, who has been named as a defendant.
Begaj had filed a memo claiming that he had been denied the right to make statements.
Meanwhile, regarding this file that includes 23 physical and 2 legal defendants, last week Evis Berberi requested a summary trial, a request on which the GJKKO has not yet expressed its opinion.
He also requests the return of the seized items and the invalidation of the acts.
SPAK says that the indicted officials, through an elaborate scheme of cooperation between themselves and private companies, aimed to control and systematically benefit from public funds in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
After the parties have completed their submissions, the black platoons will decide whether to proceed with the case, send it back for additional documents, or dismiss the case.
"Out of the 23 defendants, 22 have requested a summary trial, except for Valter Begaj and his two companies requesting additional investigations (return of the case for investigation)," journalist Edison Vatnikaj reports for "Ora News".
Berberi was arrested on March 13, 2024 by order of the Special Court after charges of money laundering and corruption were filed against him.
