Today Hamidja is 61 years old, she was born in Pojan, in a village near Peza. She says I was born in Pajon, in her Tirana dialect. He grew up in a family with eight children, in difficult conditions. Everyone was engaged in village affairs. He finished compulsory education, and at the age of 22 he married Zydiu. He was from Kavaja, but his sister was married in the village of Pojan in Tirana.
Her family built a new house, and so about 4 decades ago, in the old houses left by her sister-in-law, Hamidja and her family would start living. Two sons, Alfredi and Taulanti, today 33 and 37 years old, will be born from the marriage with Zydi.
Hamidja took care of the housework and raising the children, while her husband made wood in the village. The conditions were minimal but there was no lack of love and respect at home.
For years, the Gjumsi family lived in difficult economic conditions. Even after the 1990s when the system was changed, the income of four family members was only what they could provide from agriculture and livestock.
As if the poverty in the Gjumsi family was not enough in 1997, Hamidja, then 37 years old, was wounded in the chest by a blind bullet, in the backyard. It was a serious wound, the bullet had entered and exited Hamide's body four times, and if he had arrived at the hospital even five minutes later, it would have been fatal.
After the surgical intervention and 30 days in the hospital, Hamideja was left with a half-paralyzed arm, remaining semi-invalid and unable to work. While he had to take care of the two boys, 8 and 10 years old.
Poverty deepens even more when Hamide's husband is diagnosed with a tumor. For 7 years, the family with the few possibilities goes through the suffering and walks through hospitals, health centers desperately seeking recovery.
In 2012, Hamide's eldest son Alfredi marries Bruna, a simple and hard-working girl. Alfred, a construction worker, and his wife in a carpentry workshop would be the only ones who would feed the family.
The two together would help Hamide at every moment, with her health ailments, when she had surgery and whenever she was in trouble.
November 26, 2019, everyone is asleep. Hamidja, Zyhdiu, the little son Taulanti. The son, Alfredi, Bruna, the two-year-old little girl live near the house.
Shaking, shaking, the earth seems to call, a strong wind brings the hiss of a natural disaster.
