The appeal returned him under suspicion of having acted as a criminal group,

As the Court of Appeals decided to return Aurel Zarka's file for retrial under suspicions that he acted as a criminal group, the latter also issued a legal reaction.

Zarka has appealed to the Supreme Court, requesting that the retrial ordered by the Second Instance of the Special Court be overturned.

Sokol Binaj has been appointed rapporteur, while the time and date of the session have not yet been set.

According to the Special Appeal, the evidence and circumstances clearly show that not only Zarka, but also the three other defendants in the case collaborated as a structured criminal group, contrary to the assessment of the prosecutors in the case, as well as the First Instance judges, who described it as simple collaboration in aggravating circumstances.

According to SPAK, the prosecutor and other individuals are accused of having exercised unlawful influence in eight criminal cases that were being investigated in four different prosecutors' offices and that are mainly related to organized crime activities such as money laundering or drug cultivation.

One of the criminal cases, known as the "Toyota Auris", was registered after the seizure at the port of Durres, in June 2018, of 3.4 million euros in "cash" hidden in two used cars imported from Belgium.

The Court of First Instance sentenced the former prosecutor to 2.8 years in prison on summary trial for exercising unlawful influence and corruption.
