"700 lek for public beaches", reacts the mayor of Vlora Mersini: 15 thousand meters of space is free, a ceiling is set for prices
The Mayor of Vlora, Brunilda Mersini, has reacted to the recent decision of the Municipal Council to impose a maximum fee of 700 lek on the city's beaches.
In a public statement, Mersin announced that a significant part of the coastline will be available free of charge to citizens. According to it, this is about 15 thousand meters of public beach, where about 350 umbrellas and sun loungers will be placed free of charge.
She also explained that in addition to these equipped spaces, there will be other public areas without umbrellas and sun loungers, where vacationers can use their personal equipment.
Regarding the 700 lek fee, the mayor emphasized that this is a ceiling price for beaches managed in cooperation with private entities. According to her, unlike last season when prices reached up to 2 thousand lek, this year no entity will be allowed to apply fees higher than 700 lek.
The decision has sparked debates in the Vlora Municipal Council and among public opinion in recent days, while local authorities emphasize that the goal is to establish clear rules and protect citizens from price abuses during the tourist season.
