Leclerc: McLaren favourite in Singapore, increasingly difficult to win this year

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has spoken ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix at Marina Bay, admitting that the current season is more complicated than ever for the Red Arrows.
"If I knew exactly where our weakness lies, everything would be simpler."
Like us, Red Bull and Mercedes have made progress, but McLaren has found something more.
Furthermore, RB and Mercedes have taken a step forward that we have not yet achieved.
I don't believe we'll ever be favorites against McLaren this year, but... never say never.
"Our chances can only increase if something unexpected happens in tyre management or maybe in Las Vegas, but to win a race this year will be very difficult. Ferrari cannot be satisfied with second, third or fourth place," said Leclerc.
He added that Marina Bay is a track with high aerodynamic load, but he doesn't expect "miracles" from his car.
"In Baku we didn't do a good job in qualifying and I don't think it will be any different here. I will give everything for pole position like in Hungary, but the conditions are not the same."
"Preparation for Singapore is always specific, although I try to be in peak shape from the first race to the last."
On the other hand, Lando Norris showed more confidence:
"I'm motivated. Last year we were very strong here and I've always liked Singapore since my first year in 2019. It's one of my favorite tracks."
Red Bull with the latest updates has come close to our level, so we expect a tough battle with Max Verstappen.
"After Singapore we go to Las Vegas, a track where we probably won't be as competitive, so this is an opportunity for our rivals. We will just focus on ourselves and try to maximize every result."
Even George Russell sees the next race as a big test:
"The last two years we have done well here. Ferrari is usually strong in Singapore, but McLaren even more so, especially in hot conditions. These are the teams we need to beat.
"There's nothing to worry about my renewal with Mercedes, it just takes time. As for Verstappen, he's a four-time world champion and he can do whatever he wants."
I respect him a lot and hope to achieve the same one day."
On the eve of the most spectacular night race of the season, it seems that Ferrari remains waiting for a miracle, McLaren seeks to seize the moment, while Mercedes continues to build for the future.
