The leader of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party, Agron Duka, has stated that the opposition may have a real chance of winning a number of municipalities in the 2027 local elections, if it selects candidates capable of winning the trust of citizens.
In an interview with Klan News, he stated that the current situation is not favorable overall for the opposition, with the exception of some areas, while citing Kavaja and the possible potential in Durrës as an example.
Asked about a possible candidacy for mayor of Durrës, Agron Duka left the possibility open, emphasizing that such a decision would depend on the circumstances and real chances of victory, both within the opposition and under the banner of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party.
Besard Jacaj: What chances do the DP and the opposition have of winning anything in the next elections, in 2027?
Agron Duka: The chances are great, if he knows how to choose, because local elections have a peculiarity, as they focus more on the individual. If he chooses individuals, who know how to win the trust of the people, he can win, a number of municipalities. The real situation is not positive, in my area only Kavaja has won, while we may have chances in Durrës as well.
Besard Jacaj: Would you accept an invitation from the opposition to run for mayor of Durrës?
Agron Duka: It remains to be seen, not only can we discuss, but I also have my political strength. If I see that there is a chance of winning, I can also run as a candidate for the Agrarian Environmentalist Party. It could be even more successful, because it could be against both. There is still a year to go, but it still remains to be thought about.
