"Special" invitation for Italy to the World Cup, USA officially reacts

The chances of seeing Italy in the "FIFA2026" World Cup are almost zero, as the political card is also fading more and more. Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, has thought of closing another window for Italy, with the latter emphasizing that no one denies Iran's right to be in the World Cup:

"No communication from us, no statement from us, has said that Iran is banned from coming to the United States. I don't know where these rumors come from. Athletes are free to come, but of course, we don't want people associated with the Pasdaran, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps," said Marco Rubio.

This statement by the Secretary of State comes immediately after Paolo Zampollini, President Donald Trump's envoy, in an interview with "Financial Time" stated that he had asked the US president and the FIFA president to invite Italy instead of Iran. Despite these continuous requests from politics, in Italy, football protagonists are totally against this idea.
