The race that is taking place today for the chairman of the DP, Krujë branch, is a slanderous anti-democratic farce, cooked up and directed by the Secretary General of this party, as well as by interest groups linked to him and the favored candidate, Aulon Kalaja, by violating and humiliating a wide range of members and structures. The violation and humiliation that Flamur Noka inflicts on the members and structures of the DP in Krujë and Fushë-Krujë is unprecedented.

The candidacy against Mr. Kalaja, besides being a fabricated and proposed anti-statutory candidacy, is also a puppet placed in the race as an ornament. The names approved by Flamur (because it is universally known that Flamur is the leadership) are not accidental. Important names with historical contributions to the branch's DP, mainly in Fushë-Krujë, have been excluded from the right to compete. Their exclusion is intentional and justifies what I said above.

The names of these candidates were proposed based on the statute, by gathering the leadership and active members of the Fushë-Krujë branch; unlike Kruja, where there was no such official meeting. I say this because Mr. Ismalaja comes as a proposal from the Kruja branch.

The base was not asked or even considered for a moment. Influences and interest groups, which extend to the Socialist Party, as well as conflicts of interest that are blinding and offensive in this race, were asked and, with unparalleled arrogance and illegality, were taken advantage of.

The merger of the two branches is a gross political mistake. Time will prove us right who opposed it. While the creation of a farce competition is a disaster for the Democratic Party of the Kruja area. With this shameful act of farce, it is divided, destroyed and weak.

I rejected the electoral farce in the summer of 2017 between Lulzim Basha and Eduart Selami, not participating and leaving Albania in the fall of that same year to study and work in Italy. I returned in April of last year and immediately began to make my modest contribution to the Democratic Party in the 2025 parliamentary elections, thinking and hoping that, after its re-establishment, this party had learned great lessons from its recent and bitter political past.

I hoped that it would become a fairer party, a more careful party, a party that respects its law; in short, a more democratic party. But not only has none of this happened, but the shameful case of Kruja shows that the state of democracy and respect for the law, of competition and contribution has deteriorated even further since the summer of 2017.

I reject with force and contempt even today the farcical competition for the chairman of the Kruja branch between Mr. Kalaja and his uncle's close associate, Mr. Ismalaja. It would have been more honest, more acceptable and more manly if Flamur Noka, with the tacit approval of Mr. Berisha, had appointed Mr. Kalaja. It is more acceptable to veto than to mock. But, apparently, the long experience in politics is overshadowed by arrogance.

A member of the leadership of the Democratic Party of Albania, an honorable and knowledgeable man, once told me: “Besmir, this has not been, is not and will never be our party.” He was talking about the true aspirations for freedom, democracy and law.

Mr. Berisha, at the Kruja podium, told me personally: "We have no business interfering in your race here." Well, not only was it interfered with, but it was directed and dictated in the most brutal way.

Idro Montanelli says: “In my opinion, the right is not an ideology. The right is a certain way of behaving towards what is public and towards the state.” The yesterday and today’s behavior of the DP, its leaders and senior officials — not all of them — no longer represents me.

My right-wing aspirations for a democratic, free and fair DP were not fulfilled yesterday and are not fulfilled today. They were insulted yesterday and are being severely insulted today.

I will always put my energy, knowledge and skills — what they are — at the service of my country, as a patriot and grandson and great-grandson of patriots. But never where they mock themselves, mock others and mock the country.
