"The Albanian Paradox"! Oketa attacks the government: Anonymous MPs, record votes from gangs. Here's why the DP cannot come to power with protests

Former Defense Minister Gazment Oketa is skeptical that the Democratic Party can come to power through protests, emphasizing that the political situation in the country presents a "great paradox."
According to Oketa, although the government is accused of high levels of corruption – a fact that, according to him, is also accepted by some of the socialists themselves outside of public statements – this has not been accompanied by a strong popular reaction or revolt.
He recalls for “This Week” on News24 the 2005 elections and the slogan “with clean hands”, emphasizing that the credibility of the opposition is an essential condition for political rotation. “The first condition was that the opposition was clean. Today this makes change more difficult”, he underlines. In his statements, Oketa accuses Prime Minister Edi Rama of links to criminal elements and influence in the electoral processes, also mentioning publicly denounced cases and investigations launched by SPAK.
He adds that in some cases little-known MPs have achieved high results in the elections, which according to him raises suspicions of interference and vote buying. “It is impossible to achieve these results without support from criminal structures,” Oketa declared. In conclusion, Oketa emphasizes that under these conditions it remains unclear how political change can come, implying that protests alone are not enough for a rotation of power.
"This is the biggest paradox in this country. We have a super corrupt government. Even some of the socialists themselves, off the screen or in conversation, the socialists, not the Rilindas, accept this fact. Corruption is in galloping numbers and the other paradox is that this does not turn into popular revolts. If we go back to the slogan of 2005, it was; 'With clean hands'. The first condition of the opposition at that time was; I have clean hands. So the chance for rotation is becoming difficult. Mr. Rama has made an alliance with the entire criminal world, they appoint deputies. You as the media have denounced them, there are several processes in SPAK. You have deputies that no one knows and they have broken voting records. It is impossible, if you do not have the support of the criminal world, for buying votes. I do not know how this situation will go," he said.
