Journalist Poli Hoxha commented on "This Week" on News24 on the latest political and security developments in the country, linking the US alarm about possible Iranian attacks with the diplomatic moves of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
According to Hoxha, the US announcement of threats to Albania, which included airports, shopping malls and clubs, was very harsh and with notes of panic, as the US embassy had information from its agencies on possible risks of "hybrid warfare".
He noted that the Albanian government's response to this alarm, including the armoring of Rinas, was minimal and did not reflect the seriousness of the situation.
The journalist added that the prime minister's focus on diplomatic moves, the visit to Israel, to strengthen relations and seek support at the international level, was part of Rama's personal efforts to establish ties with the US administration, including an unfulfilled meeting with President Donald Trump. Hoxha ironically said that Rama "is trying to become more Catholic than the Pope", alluding to his ambitions to impose influence and international position, often linked to personal interests and the disapproval of Europe and the US towards some decisions of the Albanian government.
He also criticized the lack of concrete measures for national security, citing previous cases of cyberattacks from Iran and concern about the presence of organizations like the MEK in Albania, emphasizing that these factors should have been taken seriously by the government.
Poli Hoxha concluded by emphasizing that the American alarm is not just to attract attention, but reflects real dangers, while the prime minister's actions seem to be more related to personal ambitions than to concrete security strategies.
